Objectives

1. To develop a continuously improving capability to use English

   4. and to develop and apply an ever-increasing understanding of how language is organized, used and learned;
2. To develop students’ ability to understand, enjoy and appreciate literary or creative works in English;
3. To provide students of a second language with further opportunities for extending their knowledge and experience of the cultures of other people as well as opportunities for personal and intellectual development, further studies, pleasure and work in the English medium;
4. To refine the school-based curriculum in order to enhance effective learning and teaching
5. To stimulate teacher-students and students-students interaction by using e-learning materials and by adopting the co-operative learning approach.
6. To develop students’ higher order thinking skills by asking different levels of questions based on Bloom’s Taxonomy and giving quality feedback.

Language Rich Learning and Teaching Environment

Aims:

• To raise pupils' motivation and interest in learning and speaking English.
• More able pupils are trained as English ambassadors to facilitate the activities.
• English is the sole medium of instruction and communication between pupils and all teachers of English.

Phonics Programme

Phonics is a useful strategy in the learning and teaching of reading. It involves supporting students to recognize basic letter-sound relationships in English words and to apply this knowledge in reading and spelling. Our school has developed the school-based phonics curriculum in teaching the 44 phonics sound through Primary 1 to 2.
